Uzungol (English: Long Lake) is a lake located to the south of Trabzon in the Çaykara district of Trabzon. Uzungol is the village name on the lake side. For years, picturesque lakes, villages and surrounding valleys have become popular tourist destinations. The lake is 99 km from the center of Trabzon and 19 km from the center of Çaykara. The stream was formed by a landslide that made it a natural dam in the valley of Haldizen Stream.
The area is most famous for the natural environment. The lake and village on a high mountain line seem inaccessible at first sight. Add the sky to the surrounding mountain forests and the fog incident.
The tourist explosion of recent years has attracted investors who have opened many hotels, restaurants and souvenir shops in the village. Transport infrastructure has also been improved. In 2008, the government built a concrete barrier on the lake shores, so that the waves would not wet the coastal roads around it. It launched a protest stating that ecologists and locals interested in the environment have become a giant artificial pond.
